Scenario

Rough Trade Records was started in 1978 by Geoff Travis and promoted and sold records by punk and indie pop groups. Rough Trade currently represents a deep pool of highly regarded indie and rock acts including Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, The Libertines and The Strokes.

Rough Trade has several contracts available for photographers to produce images for their album covers. You are a freelance photographer and applying for these contracts.

Your task is to produce 10 images, which could be used as square album covers and in a pitch for the contracts. Your images will show Rough Trade Records and artists what you are capable of and that you can fit in with their core values and style and you can choose any subject you like.

Your images will show your photography skills and use of apertures and shutter speeds. You will also know how to prepare a digital camera for use, use advanced camera techniques creatively, choose accessories and manage digital assets.

You will also produce a 500-word (approx) illustrated report explaining the connection between ISO, shutter speed, aperture and exposure values, as well as other written tasks.

Your images must be taken whilst on this course.

All research material gathered from outside sources (eg the internet) must have the source fully credited.
